Explorer Academy

A Look at Metro Explorers
The academy is the rigorous entry process for all commissioned and some civilian positions within the LVMPD.

We believe our explorers should experience first-hand the challenges of the academy to better prepare them for their future endeavor.

Each summer, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department hosts the Southern Nevada Law Enforcement Explorer Academy.

The week-long academy focuses on education, leadership, discipline, and physical fitness in a paramilitary setting.

Police and Corrections Explorers are required to participate in and successfully complete the Explorer Academy. CSI and Dispatch Explorers may choose to participate.
