Our History

    This expansion allowed us to better facilitate our mission and support our local programs.

  • 2017

    Ex-Con Inc. merged with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Explorer Program.

    We strive to continually grow and improve the products we offer Explorers/Cadets, and their Advisors, from across the country.

2018 Competition

ExCon is a one-day event held on Saturday June 9th, 2018. The competition begins at 7:00 am and concludes with an award ceremony at approximately 6:00 pm. It will be hosted at Advanced Technologies Academy located at 1411 Robin Street Las Vegas, NV 89106.

There will be 1st – 5th place (scenarios A and B) trophies awarded for each team event. Walk-up events will be awarded 1st – 5th place overall trophies. There will be one trophy awarded for the overall competition winner. To qualify for the overall trophy, your team must compete in each of the scheduled scenarios and all of the walk-up events. Each participating team will receive a commemorative plaque.

Events

Each team will be scheduled to complete the 5 team events throughout the day. There are also multiple "walk-up" events that are available on a first come, first served basis. Teams must complete all events to be eligible for the overall competition trophy.

Active Assailant

4–6 person Explorer team will act as patrol officers responding to a call for service.

Suspicious Person Stop

Minimum 2 person Explorer team with an optional 2 person back-up team.

Unknown Risk Traffic Stop

Minimum 2 person Explorer team with an optional 2 person back-up team.

Crime Scene Response

Minimum 2 person Explorer team with an optional 2 person back-up team.

Downed Officer Rescue

Minimum 2 person and maximum 6 person Explorer team.

Events

In each scenario Explorer teams will be graded on a variety of points including: team work, decision making, tactics, procedures, use of contact & cover, communication (with suspects, dispatch and partners), observation skills, and overall officer safety.

Security Notice

Apart from registered attendees and their advisors, no unauthorized guests will be permitted on the competition property until the award ceremony.

Registered participants must wear their competition-issued wristbands prominently throughout the day.

ExCon welcomes any ranking department members to attend the competition with advance notice to ExCon Staff.

Located just minutes away from the competition site, the Santa Fe Station Hotel boasts several attractions including restaurants, an on-site bowling alley, movie theater, arcade and pool.

Reserving a room

ExCon attendees must book accommodations directly through the hotel using offer code ACIEX18 through the link provided below. Reservations must be made by May 11, 2018. For questions, contact (866) 767-7771.

Preparing to purchase

A credit card must be posted, so one night’s room & tax can be billed. A 72-hour notice is required to cancel without a penalty. A $100 security deposit (cash/credit card) is required upon check-in.

Costs

Competition fees are $100 for Explorers and Advisors.
The deadline to submit registration and fees is Friday May 18, 2018.

Also included

A special competition shirt will be provided for each registered participant. Additional shirts will be available for purchase.

Each registered participant will receive a gift bag with official ExCon swag.

A boxed lunch will be provided that includes a sandwich, chips, and a cookie.

Water, sports drinks, and soda will be provided on competition day.

A video montage will be ready for partial viewing prior to the award ceremony.

Pictures and video will be available within 72 hours on the website.

Liability Waiver

Bring Form

All registered participants (Explorers & Advisors), MUST complete the Waivers of Liability & Medical Treatment Consent forms and bring it to the ExCon check-in, with original signatures.

Signatures for Minors

All registered persons UNDER 18 years of age AND those over 18 years of age that are still carried by a parent/legal guardian’s medical insurance, MUST have parental signatures on the form where applicable!

Double check Entries

If any forms are missing or incomplete without the required signatures at the time of registration, the participant will NOT be permitted to participate in, nor attend, ExCon.

Competition Check-in and Registration

Check-in and registration will be held on Friday June 8 at the LVMPD Headquarters, Building A, located at 400 S. Martin Luther King Boulevard Las Vegas NV, 89106. It will be open from 0900–1900 hours. If you're expecting to be later than 1900 hours, please contact us. We will do everything we can to accommodate you.
