Kori Lindsey was born and raised in Las Vegas and is a 2015 graduate of Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy where she majored in 9-1-1 Emergency Telecommunications. Kori has been working towards a career in law enforcement for the past five years and decided when she was a high school freshman to become a 9-1-1 Operator for LVMPD based on inspiration and training she received from her 9-1-1 teacher. She’s currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and is employed as a student dispatcher for the UNLV Police Department.

As an explorer, Lindsey is a member of the program’s recruiting team where she, along with other explorers, visits local high schools and career fairs to help recruit future members. She also spent time as a Field Training Explorer where she mentored incoming Phase I explorers by helping them adjust to the program and teaching them the basic fundamentals of law enforcement. Being an FTE has been her absolute favorite position in this program as it has allowed her to connect and get to know almost every LVMPD explorer.

Ms. Lindsey has held many formal leadership positions since joining the LVMPD Explorer Program in May, 2013 as one of the first dispatch explorers. In 2014 she was promoted to Dispatch Sergeant where she maintained that rank until her eventual promotion to Captain. In October, 2016 she was selected as the LVMPD Explorer Commander.

For Kori, being an explorer has made her a greater person than she ever thought possible and has given her the tools and skills that she will need to realize her goal of becoming a 9-1-1 Operator for LVMPD. As a member, she has met many great people on the department but has also created lifelong friendships amongst her fellow explorers which, besides all the experiences and the memories, is the best part of the program.

We are committed to building strong partnerships with the community to guide us and communicate effectively to ensure the public’s trust.
